Brand & Logo Design
MY ROLE
Throughout the entire process of building this app, I maintained close communication with the two co-founders, as it was essential to ensure the product met their requirements.
My role involved designing a web3 version of Linktree, which needed to be connected to Twitter, fetch data from Twitter, use emojis exclusively as usernames, and have an aesthetically pleasing design.
To stay connected with the co-founders, I used the app ClickUp.
DESIGN SYSTEM
To establish a strong brand identity for this project, I decided to go for a variety of yellow tones, including #FBC325, and implemented dark mode options with harmonious color palettes.
Next, I developed a design system that consisted of a color palette, fonts, icons, and reusable components.
As per the request of one of the founders, I incorporated components from the DaisyUI library, which works with Tailwind CSS and allows for faster development in code.
Throughout the process, I communicated my designs using Figma and Zeplin.
BRAND & LOGO
For the branding and logo, the founders wanted to convey a sense of speed, youthfulness, vibrancy, and uniqueness while also incorporating an emoji.
After conducting thorough research, I selected the "high voltage" emoji, which not only captured the desired characteristics but also complemented the color scheme.
I then converted the emoji into a vector graphic format that incorporated the design system's colors.
The desktop screens include a one-liner provided by one of the founders, the mobile screens solely display the logo.
CHALLENGES
Initially, this project appeared to be straightforward, as the founders requested a Linktree replica using emojis. However, one of the challenges was to obtain the required emojis.
To accomplish this, I had to search for a repository on GitHub that had the necessary list, extract the emojis using Postman, and organize them into groups for easy use in design and by the developers.
PROCESS
After successfully fetching the emojis, I focused on the functionality, I researched similar apps such as Popl and Linktree and came up with a simple MVP functionality, which is displayed on the sitemap image.
Understanding the account creation flow was crucial for improving the MVP design. User input would be cached until the user decides to connect their Twitter account, which would trigger the account creation process to be executed by the developers.
While this process would be handled by the development team, understanding it during the design phase was essential.
Additionally, the login and signup process would be offered through two options: users could either connect their Twitter account or use their wallet after they have minted the NFT on either Solana or Ethereum blockchain.
During the user testing phase, the feedback from users was positive, as all of them were able to comprehend the functionality and the subsequent steps without any prior explanation.
END RESULT
The end product is a user-friendly platform with a visually pleasing design for sharing links.
In this version, the founders decided not to include the NFT minting functionality as they plan to pre-sell this primarily with web2 features. However, the wallet address will be included for the future minting process.
The reason behind this decision is that NFTs need to be minted in batches, and it is crucial to wait until a collection is fully completed. They estimate that over 10,000 accounts will be created before the minting process begins.
Additionally, a landing page was designed and can be found at the end of the presentation.
